Patients Can Now Appoint a GP and Check Their Medical Records Online
Health Minister Edwina Hart has decided to finance the new NHS website scheme that would enable the patients to check their medical records online and ask for repeat prescriptions. With this funding of £1.7 million, the patients will also be able to make appointments online.

The increasing demand for GP service through internet has been identified as an important issue by the Health Ministry. According to Hart, this necessitates a system for making information accessible to people and enable them to improve their health.
Supporting her stance, Dr Richard Lewis, Welsh secretary of the British Medical Association, said that the information systems have become crucial for communicating health information for the patients in the community. The funds released by Ministry will bring about improvement in the IT system in the whole region.
In addition to this, technology firm Phillips has said that their new technology would enable the patient to check their blood pressure, blood oxygen level etc. right from their home and allow them to communicate online with Primary Health Trust directly.
