In traditional bingo, each participant takes a card with a five by 5 grid. The word “BINGO” is exposed on the top with figures underneath it. Someone moderates the activity and calls out the number and letter combination until someone wins by getting a Bingo. Alternate ways to take on include having a mark on four corners or making an X on the Bingo card.

In order to retool this hot game for the holidays, switch the cards by coloring holiday art or words in exchange for figures. Maintain the word BINGO at the top or substitute for a holiday-themed word, such as “CLAUS.” If you are applying words instead of pictures, watch out for the double letters (i.e. the “A” in “Santa” or “Claus”). If you don’t feel like designing your own customized holiday Bingo cards, see some sites devoted to printable variations.
Caroling is believed to have started out in England around the middle ages.
