In a recent case of injury to an employee due to negligence of the employer in providing him with the proper safety equipments, Ian Pearson, a steel erector for Fast Track Site Services, (formerly based in
Pearson was engaged in hammering a steel pin into a hole at the worksite when a piece of coating broke off and entered his eye as the employer had not provided him with proper goggles that would have protected his eyes from every angle. However, the matter did not get adjudicated as the employer admitted its guilt and paid compensation by out of court settlement.
According to Laura Hadfield from Thompsons Solicitors, the employee should have been provided with correct goggles and that the accident costing the employee his normal vision could have been easily avoided with the appropriate safety equipment for the purpose but for the negligence of the employers.

The problem was that there were a number of glasses available in the market and it was the duty of employer to ensure that they got the appropriate glasses for the type of work.
